Are you new to online learning?

If you are new to online learning, you should begin with our infographic Introduction to online learning. If you roll your mouse cursor over that infographic, you will find a number of areas to click which will take you to more detailed information or recorded demonstrations of how to use your online learning portal effectively and efficiently. NB you can also download a copy of the infographic in PDF form.

If you have some experience with online learning and you are comfortable with accessing online learning content and assistance, you can use the items in the left-hand menu to go directly to any particular module page, the discussion forum or announcement area.

What is Canvas? What does it do?

Canvas is a cloud-based platform that stores and serves up your learning content. It provides text, video and other resources to help you learn about various topics within your course, along with links to additional information (such as documents, web pages and videos) and other important items, such as assessments, assignments, discussions and course announcements.

The system also stores your marks as you progress through your learning materials, and keeps track of your work as you complete each section of your course. By automating much of the administration required within your learning program, Canvas helps free up your trainers for the most important part of their job - helping prepare you to pass your course.

You can access Canvas from a PC or Mac, from your iPhone or iPad, of from your Android or Windows phone or tablet. All you need is Internet access and your Canvas account details, which you will have received by now.
